"Try a little harder to be a little better." President Hinckley

This week has been lots of fun!  Michael and Amanda got married on Saturday!  It was so much fun to see that and the cultural hall looked great!  We also got to talk to some of her friends and her mom about the gospel! :) Amanda is great at sharing with them and that is very helpful for us!
Also this week, the youth speaker who spoke during sacrament meeting sat on the stand and proceeded to pick his nose and eat it.  Gross! Please do not do that!  Okay?  So un-classy!  Just saying.... Also, some drunk man bought us dinner yesterday.  Since it was a proselyting day instead of p-day, we ended up far away from home so we ate out instead.  And then the drunk man the table over paid for our meals...getting drunk is also not classy, so don't do that either!  :) Anyway, p-day on Tuesday is so strange!  I feel like it is Monday, but it is not.... This week will probably go by way too fast!
We went on exchanges with the Spanish sisters this week and that was lots of fun!  We have some people here that speak Spanish and we set them up for that day.  And WOW do Spanish people talk fast!!  Ha ha I am sure I looked pretty funny with my mouth hanging open!
Anyway, serving a mission is the best and I love getting to see people change and grow!  The atonement of Christ is real!  And it works!
Sure love ya!

"The Lord is no stranger to His servants here." President Packer

look!  Goslings in our apartment complex!  They are so cute!

I got a new companion!  Her name is Sister Steimle and she is from California (Orange County area).  She is also quite a bit shorter than me! We will have to get a picture one of these days!  Anyway, Sister Hong and Sister Nielsen did manage to get all packed (though I wondered about Sister Hong!  We weighed her bag like seventy times!).  The zone really got changed a lot during this transfer!  There are 16 companionships and only three stayed the same!  Three Sister areas closed :( Michael got confirmed this Sunday!  We are so excited for Michael and Amanda because they are getting married next weekend! Then eventually in a year, they will get to go to the temple!!  Eternal family in the making! :)
We also saw a lot of miracles this week as we were led to people willing to listen!  It was especially fun to have Amanda go with us! She is so enthusiastic about the gospel and not afraid to share it with anyone!  It was a great experience to have her with us :) I love the recent converts in this ward!  They are so happy and excited to share the gospel and want to go with us all day!
I hope y'all have a great week!
Sure love y’all!

"It is in the process of being worshipped that God communicates His presence to men." C.S Lewis

This Sunday was as crazy as ever going to long hours of church!  What added to the fun was my companions tried to abandon me! As we were mingling with the members, brother Nanto (counselor to the bishop) came up and asked me if I could play some prelude (I end up doing that quite often because the two sisters who are supposed to do it are late a lot).  So I of course said yes and went up to play prelude, assuming that, since Sister Hong was standing right next to me, she had heard the conversation.  So I am up there playing away and looking to see who is at church, watching for the two sisters who are supposed to play.  Meanwhile, my companions are looking for me and starting to panic, thinking I have gotten kidnapped or something.  In fact they actually left the chapel and searched the whole building for me!  And there I am, obliviously playing the piano.  I had no idea they had even left!  Sister Nielsen finally saw me when they came back in the chapel...
Also adding to the chaos of Sunday, Michael was baptized!! Such an amazing baptism!  He has come so far!  Once a gang member who saw some of his family members killed! He even cried at his baptism!  Right after the baptism, we hurried into the Kannapolis ward where Heyward got confirmed!  (They did it at the end so we could be there).  And his baptism on Saturday was the best!  Even though Brother Morse (who was supposed to be filling the font) scared us because we got there and the font was not getting filled!  Luckily, God made sure one of the doors was left unlocked for us so we could fill it up! :)  His non member Sister came and was crying the whole time.  Heyward also shared his testimony and it was beautiful as he shared how he had been about to give up on life when God sent the Sister missionaries to knock on his door!  I know that God really does care about us as His children and that He is always there to help us when we reach out.  He loves us and wants to help!  My challenge to you is to look for the tender mercies or little miracles God sends your way everyday and to thank Him for those things!  :)
Sure love you!

you miss 100% of the shots you don't take!

Last Monday was Sister Hong's birthday so we made her a happy birthday sign!  It also felt like we went shopping twice because we went to the actual store and then we picked up a bunch of things from Sister Hong's apartment :)
Later that evening, we were contacting a bible referral and it was pretty close to nine.  Anyway, we knock on the front door and this Mexican man comes around the corner of the house, which is not all that surprising.  People here do not use their front doors.  As a matter of fact, lots of people have furniture in front of their front door so it won't even open!  What was surprising is this man had a pit bull trying to pull him off his feet and looked like he wanted to eat us!  Luckily, when he saw it was just three girls in skirts, he said "oh" and disappeared back around the corner to get rid of the dog...I can't help but wonder if he would have set the dog on the elders if it had been them knocking?!
Also this week, we met someone who belongs to the cowboy church. Yep— cowboy church. Who knew?  There are apparently some all over the place here, in the west, etc.  he also invited us to their tent revival....
So as a standard in our mission, meeting shoes and tracting shoes are two different things.  So i have some black shoes that have a heel on them that I use for meetings and then my black comfy shoes for everything else.  Anyway, we had a district meeting and I knew we weren't going to get back to our apartment for some time so I brought along my comfy shoes to change into.  Only I later realized I had grabbed one silver and one black shoe.  Yep.  Moral of the story, don't try to grab your shoes in the dark!  So I had to wear my heals all day!
Anyways time to go now!  Sister Hong and Sister Nielsen both need to be packed by the 12th (they are both going home) and we need to clean the Kannapolis apartment really well for the two new sisters!
Sure love ya!
